Elaine and John Couri

In January of 2004, the Couri Foundation, founded by Elaine and John Couri, opened the Moose River Valley Center in Jackman , Maine .  The goal of the Center is to provide a fun, engaging and rewarding environment for residents of Jackman/Moose River, ME and the surrounding area who are age 55 and over.  Membership in the Center is free.

The creation of the Moose River Valley Center was made possible by the generosity of Elaine and John Couri and the Couri Foundation.  The Couri's established the non-profit Couri Foundation in 1989 to help children and seniors.

With the high percentage of seniors in Jackman/Moose River and surrounding area, the need for a senior center was evident.  The Couri's established the property formally known as Sky Lodge Motel and Bear's Den Restaurant as the setting for the new Center.

The goal driving the Moose River Valley Center was and continues to be "to contribute to the physical, intellectual and emotional well-being of senior citizens, while allowing participants to maximize their independence."
